ALGONQUIN COLLEGE IN
PARTNERSHIP WITH KITIGAN ZIBI PROVIDES HEALTH CARE TRAINING TO ALGONQUIN FIRST
NATION
NEPEAN, Ont.,/CNW/ - The Kitigan Zibi Education Council
for the Algonquin First Nation has hired Algonquin College to
provide Health Care Aide and Home Support Worker training to
20 students. A renovated training centre in Maniwaki has been
provided for this 31-week training program. Graduating students will
receive an Ontario Ministry of Education and Training Certificate for
both the Health Care Aide and Home Support Worker programs.
This collaborative project has received full support from the
Algonquin Aboriginal Band Council as they look forward to training
individuals to provide personal care and support in long-term care
facilities and at home.
This training program will be delivered by both full-time and
part-time teachers from the Algonquin College School of Continuing
Education, using on-site facilities in Maniwaki for clinical
placements Algonquin College is pleased to be able to collaborate with
community organizations in the provision of on-site health care training and is
looking forward to working with the Kitigan Zibi Education Council on this project.
